Heres todays find. Actualy found one Panaeolus that I can ID I by my self... a Pan subb. Haven't seen these guys in a few days, I've got one nice sized one and a bunch of pins... yay for me.
Here ya go:
Pan subb.
Not sure what this is, I find them all around the grass pile. They're large... about 5-6 inches tall, 4-5 inch caps. Brown gills. White veil. Caps have brown circles that fade to white. Briuses red. I have more pics of these if anyone wants to see them.
Mr pan subb again.
Everything worth keeping for today.
Peace out,
-Gumby

Just a question, I found something that looked like those pans and I was wondering if you found them on dung and in which area. I found some in Illinois but I couldn't identify it, Does it bruise blue? what color are the spores? any help would be appreciated.

No I didn't try them because MJshroomer said that they are panaeolus sphinctrinus var. campanulatus and I really trust his experience. I think the stems on your mushrooms appear a little thicker than mine. Here's a larger pic

Mitchnast, you are probably right. The larger mushrooms with the dark rings definitely had darker gills and the gills looked more like the pics of the pan subbs than the gills of the smaller ones. You can see gills of the smaller ones but I didn't lay any of the larger ones on it's gills on my scanner. I guess I should have so you could see the difference. I plan on getting a 3 megapixel digital camera in about a week and I'll go out and see what I can find then. Hopefully it rains sometime soon.

no, i meant gumbydudes pics. yours are all pan sphinctrinus var. Campatalanus. i told you the speceis before MJ did :) but hes so specific with the subspeceis :) really im not exactly sure of all the diferences between pan sphinctrinus var Cam. and pan sphinctrinus var. Sphinctrinus. but i think it has something to do with the appearance of the fringe on the margin.
Lucid: i thought breifly that a few of yours were Paneolina foenisecci. BUT they arent. and even if they were they arent psychoactive. you really dont have anything resembling panaeolus subbaltaetus enough for their to be any doubt about that. its quite a variable speceis this time of year tho.

Well damn, would your guess be the are toxic? I have all the panaeolus looking mushrooms mixed up with the pan subs. Like i said, the gills are brown, but they drop jet black spores.
Peace out,

did those two narrow-stiped ones drop jet black? they appear to be paneolinas. but then ive found pan microsporus like that. it cant HURT to eat them. 3.5 dry grams should give you some effects. enjoy.

I also have a bunch of those campanulatus, Mitch nows what i'm talking about, i guess i will have all the non-psichoactive panaeolus growing in my lawn, as my luck is not what it used to be :P.
You can see pics of them on the thread "From shit they come", at the end.
Peace,
