Did you have a really fucking disgusting taste in your mouth when it has happened?
I've only coughed up brown phlegm, and that left a FUCKING DISGUSTING taste in my mouth, holy shit, I started to gag and almost threw up.
If you didn't I'd be willing to bet it was just a hallucination.

First time I ate acid I got extremely congested past normal (I have extremely bad allergies). I was coughing up nasty stuff for days after that. None of it was black though - although some was dark green. Same thing happened with me on 2ci. Erowid says that
+increased salivation and mucus production (causes coughing in some people)
is a normal side effect. I'm sure thats why.

I am sure it is just increased mucus production which pushes out the existing phlegm which may have collected tar or other shit which enters your lungs. Dark colored phlegm can also be indicative of a sinus infection - or maybe you just live in LA and you are coughing up some nasty smog.

Once this trippy guy was round my house.
Kept real quiet all evening then in the early hours he started reching as if he was gonna puke but instead just goughed a load of that black flem stuff out into 1 of my ashtrays! Nice!

Mushrooms makes my nose and eyes water, lsd not as much.
