Is anyone familiar with air stones?

I plugged in my pump for the first time and was not sure if output was sufficient? I'm using a AP100 with flow control, and a 10" air stone. will these provide for my 35gal which i will hopefully put 10 cakes in.

I would use the splitter that is hopefully included with the pump and use several airstones, but that sounds good. nood more details on the pump though

The four stones are normally 4" stones.

I would personally suggest that you get the white disposable stones. Follow the instructions to get small bubbles. (Suck water inside, and blow it out, about four times before you use it with air.)

One stone is enough. More than enough. You don't want to have the air flow out constantly, you will go crazy trying to keep humidity, when it is all going into your room.

Have the pump turn on for one hour, four times a day or have it turn on for four hours in the morning... That is when natures CO2 normally drops, as plants use what was built up throught the night.

If this were not PMP, you wouldn't fan this for 24 hours would you? That would be pointless.

The smaller the pump, the better. If you had a pump that was rated at 10 gallons and hour, that would need to run all day if it were in a 100 gallon tank. Your pump at 30 gallons per hour would need to run all day if it were in a 300 gallon tank. That would change the air in the 300 gallon tank 2.4 times a day, which is like fanning twice a day.

EG, Your 30 GPH will need to pump for 1 hour to replace about 75% of the air. (Diffusion will make it impossible to totally replace the air 100%) So, if you replace 75% at four times a day, you are safe. The alternative would be the 4 hour run in the morning as an alternative. That would replace about 95% of the air, and keep it fresh for 4 hours... giving you 20 hours to build up CO2, which will not be enough to wink at.

CO2 becomes a problem when it is allowed to saturate the air/water after days of neglect, which will only retard growth. You would need a weeks worth of CO2 to stop growth.

You got me a little confused.

The pump is rated for 100 liters per hour and I'm not sure the conversion to gallons.

It still sounds good for an hour four times a day.

Also at what kind of rate does C02 build at, does it very thru the growing cycle?
