Anno's Rye Tek

I'm using Anno's Rye Tek and he gives the quantity of rye and water for a pint, but I am using quarts. Should I just double the amount of grain and water, since a quart is double the size of a pint
Basic rye recipe for 1 pint jar: - 100g (=3.5 oz~125 ml~0.53 cup) rye - 110g (= 3.9 oz =110 ml~0.46 cup) water
-------------------- ~Skipp "I like cigarettes, Miss Taggart. I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come alive from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind---and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression."

I have read through magash's rye tek, and although it is a great tek. I'm not simmering or soaking, so Anno's tek is a more viable option

There're two problems with Anno's tek:
It doesn't compensate for endospore germination and it doesn't get the rye to maximum water content, although the latter is negligible.
Endospores will survive pressure cooking and prevent mushroom spore germination.
Soaking/simmering is the best tek to ensure that your substrate will perform optimally.

tripmeister, have you tried Anno's tek? There are a couple of people on this board that no longer soak or simmer because of Anno. Works great for them.

It is not Anno's tek. People have been using it for decades.....
Whatever works for you is the key. Some people prefer soaking, some simmering, some soaking and simmering, some measure the ingredients out directly. Use what works .

I've been using this same technique for years myself and never have those problems either; even with slow colonizing edible species!

Well, I see lots of results from both tek's over the years IMOE and litterally hundreds of pics from Magash using his/my method but very few from you. So, I do what I know works and THAT is what I recommend.

it's pretty obvious that both work, from here it's just a question of which one a person prefers, I've always soaked and I recon I always will.

Yes. Both work. One works better than the other, you just confirmed that.

You are a stubborn S.O.B.
In order to have a preference, you must have an opinion on what works better.
Stop disagreeing with me just because you like to argue.
