Hynagogic Imagery...or something more?
    #3751047 - 02/08/05 03:10 PM (14 years, 14 days ago)

So there I was, lying in bed, attempting to fall asleep. I was having a remarkably difficult time for some reason. Try as I might, I simply could not fall asleep. Eventually, I started to doze off. Suddenly, a faint image of a tree made its way into my consciousness. I didn't think anything of it. Time passed, although I was unaware of its passage. No more than 10 minutes could have passed. Out of nowhere, an image began to form. It felt like my eyes were open when in fact they were closed. I was aware of a fractal image in front of me. It looked almost like a stained glass mosaic, with shades of grey instead of colors. I couldn't tell what shape they formed. Then I became aware of a few stars in the background, as though I was looking at the night sky. As soon as I realized what I saw (while entirely sober), I was jarred out of my semi-somnaic state. Of course I lay there for another half hour pondering what I had just seen, but couldn't come to any conclusion. Any ideas what this was or its implications or its origins? Or was it just simple hypnagogic imagery that I'm reading too much into? (although this has never happened before).

Any thoughts?

Making the noise "penicillin" is no substitute for actually taking penicillin.
