this did not happen to me but one of my friends did shrooms at school, then went to his history class and he did not know it but they were showing a documentary about the holocaust.. says it's the worst thing he's ever experienced

I've gone to the theater to see ?The Exorcist? while trippin'. That was a rather interesting experience. ;-)

Worst movie to trip on ever..

The Cell..though I haven't done it, but I can imagine the experience watching a movie so twisted like the cell.

Ah interesting post...

Requiem is a good choice, I wouldn't want to watch that whist tripping either, though when it came out a few friends of mine tried to get me to watch it high. Its pretty visually creative from a cinematography point of view though.

Crash rocks. I don't think it would be such a terrible trip movie. Maybe a few violent scene but I've never understood why so many people are appauled by it, I found it very stylish.

Shining ya thats a good movie but pretty haunting for a trip, same with Exorcist. I remember just seeing exorcist again in the re-release....who sits in front of us at the theater? A bunch of 14 year old's whacked on X... half way through the movie they all start screaming and crying like babies! Ya they were smart...

Lost Highway is a really messed up flick, though a few people on here have actually mentioned it as a good trip film. To each his own I guess. I could never truly understand the plot..but I guess thats what made is so interesting to me..

I dunno about the Cell but I wasn't too found of it when sober. Too many boring scenes with too few trippy scenes that are spoiled by pointless violence (and usually i would enjoy that). I hated the plot and acting, though it maybe had 35 seconds worth of cool scene.

Anyway here are some of my choices for horribe trip movies..
-Cannible Holocaust
-Traces/Faces of Death
-Maniac
-I Spit On Your Grave
-Errrmm.. well basically any cheezy horror/shockumentary with little humor is a garenteed bad trip obviously..

Here are some borderline bad trip ideas (some people will really like these films while others find them a bit too much)...
-Susperia
-The Tenant
-Cube
-Dawn Of The Dead
-The Beyond
-Videorome

I just saw Pi (great picture BTW) and it is a total mind fuck. Watching while tripping would be insanely intense I think.

Um I watched the Cell on acid. All I can say is there are definitely better places to have your mind when on high power psychedelics than drastic disturbing shit like that.

I saw a little bit of the cell while i was coming down off of shrooms.. it wasn't that bad. I think the worst movie ever would be, the dentist or dentist, one of those. That movie is so fucked up.

A funny movie to watch is the ambulance with Julia Roberts brother, his over dramatic acting is a crack up its also slightly scary.

David Lynch and David Cronenberg are the kings of fucked up movies, without a doubt..

Lynch's Eraserhead, Blue Velvet(obviously), Wild At Heart, Dune and Fire Walk With Me(great movie, but any Twin Peaks fan knows the meaning of guilty pleasure..) are all great, but unnerving movies...I love David's work, but I really have no desire to see his movies under the influence(with the possible exception of the Straight Story...which is G rated...any true Lynch fans will find the great irony in him doing a G rated Disney film)...

Cronenberg..this dude is warped!! Naked Lunch, Dead Zone, eXistenZ, Crash(as I've already stated), and even the Fly take us to our most primal states...almost like if the first twenty minutes of 2001 were made into a feature length film...

yes, that's devilman the anime, and it is funny sober, but I for one really took things more seriously whilst tripping, then I laughed my ass off... hmmm... it all depends what mood I'm in, I guess.

I watched the first fighting sequence of Aliens on shrooms once. It seemed to go in fast motion. It was really quite hilarious. When I watched it stoned though, it was scary.

hell, ANY war movies are bad, but saving private ryan is particularly bad... i one time took about 4 grams, and watched "Battle of The Bulge" and thought i turned into a Nazi Panzer driver.... oh man, that was as scary as shit, especially because i was afraid the nazi's were going to kill me because i am really an american.... oh my.

My favourite movie to trip on is The Thin Red Line. I think it's beautiful. The difference between watching TTRL while sober than on something is the difference between watching a really good movie and the best movie.

IMO, Saving Private Ryan sucks ass and would definately be worse while tripping.

I totally agree, but make sure you watch it on DVD. The VHS pales in comparison. You lose so much color on VHS, and it needs to be in widescreen.

This is the BEST movie by FAR to trip on.

I don't know why more people don't bow down to this movie in awe of it's psychedelic beauty.

I have it on DVD, widescreen of course. Totally awesome. Saw it in the theatres nine times. If it ever comes to your city/town in a rep. cinema, be sure to see it big screen. Awesome. The visual scenery becomes FAR more impressive.

Yes I agree Thin Red Line is a really amazing movie. My personal favorite war movie, very epic indeed, especially on DVD. Not violent enough to cause a bad trip, but just scary enough to make you actually care for the characters.

Most of these movies i've never heard of..

I guess cuz im a young guy, and there are so many older people here who probably seen half these never heard of movies before I was born..

Why are all these new people coming to the shroomery tearing it up, I mean this was I think the first movie post in a while..but out in the trip tips forum there are like 3 posts with similar topics about tripping to movies.

Doing nothing but clogging the forums up with pointless threads.

I think I would badtrip if I watched The Yellow Submarine while tripping ! The whole feeling of it makes me badtrip a little bit even when I'm not tripping. It's a good movie, though.. even though some parts are really boring.

regarding frightening war films, Jacob's Ladder .... watching that sober was a fucking trip. might be too slow or complicated for some discriminatory viewers but i found it to be really good and disturbing

Most of the movies mentioned have been made in the 90's and are pretty mainstream. And most of the old ones are so notorious that anyone that has TV should know what they are. Not that I'm flaming you for not knowing them, I think it's great. I think TV and movies are evil, although I have to watch them.

Worst movie I would say to trip on would be Apocolypse Now with Martin Sheen.
The movie gets too deep, and it would be to intense to try to figure it out while tripping...and those wierd tribe like people at the end would be freaky

Lord of the flys, oh shit that was on bravo recently and even with comercials while tripping it fucked me up. At first i had a hard time identifying the movie and i was enjoying it then shit got twisted. ohh boy. I felt so sad for piggy, damn near cried. fucked up shit no dout.

my first thoughts were eraserhead and lord of illusions (or any clive barker movie, i have a hard time with the gorey/torturous images...good writer though...) also IMO the wall is too much, but i suppose that's because of some personal stuff.

two really good ones--the song remains the same (led zeppelin) and any blue's clues video (makes you understand why kids like it so much)
