Horse poo next door

Hey my neighbor's have a few horses. I was wondering what the smartest approach to asking for some of their horse's poo would be, since I just moved and don't know them.
I was thinking about just going over and asking for poo for compost, but damn. I'm not worried about them getting suspicious, I just want to have a legitimate reason for asking for their animal's feces.
Thanks
Also, how much should I try and nab if they say "go for it?" I mean if I am going to go through the effort i don't want to find out I should have gotten 10x as much.

Just go grab it while they sleep dude...if you tell them your using it for compost or something and if you do raise suspicion, they are your neighbors and will see if you have a garden and shit.

Dude that sucks I have to freaking sneak into their fenced yard and steal shit?
Come now there has to be a better idea than gardens and theft.

calm down there Adoobie, you said you wanted a legitimate reason for asking the poo right?? Why else would you need poo?? At least its visible in the open.

but why am I collecting that poo? If they are by chance tempted to ask (hell, I freaking would)...what do I say other than "uuuhhh...." .... THAT will spark a raised eyebrow.
True, and thanks for the response rec. I don't have a garden though
Also, I just moved in. School is in full tilt. I just don't have the time to go make pretense of a garden just for poo..which, I could buy a bag for like 85 cents from home depot.

You plan to start a garden in the spring - RIGHT
Getting togather stuff to start compost pile in spring
You have a buddy who's Mom want some for her rose garden.
you have a "fecal" smell fetish & want some for your scent colloction.
Stolen poo often harbors contams
Poo given freely, seldom harbors anything - but goodwill

heh, grow something outside, you sound like you are in a relatively rural area if you have a horse being boarded next door. Grow a couple of tomatoe plants or corn with MJ in the middle of the patch or something.

Lol thanks for the ideas agar...
rec, I live in a one of those older parts of a city that has grandma's living on their squatter homes...right in the middle of things, but somehow this guy and another neighbor are still able to keep animals on the property...if not for lifelong neighbors, I don't think they would still have them.

I've caught several people here at my place over the last 2 years, narrowly missed a few others, with 5 burglaries what do you think the first thing you'd see if it were you I caught... I dont take kindly to people sneaking around here, I've had livestock shot and $50,000 in cameras and tools stolen... the last bunch I removed at gunpoint called the cops on me and the cops said I was a known shooter and they should feel lucky to be alive... they even had a court order to remove a trailer from the place and simple ignored the signs and failed to ask permission... that wont ever happen again.

Are they stabled horses? If you're young enough, you could offer clean out their stables for them for a very cheap price

I haven't done this personally cuz I don't grow...but there is a horse farm close to where I live and by the street there is a fence thats not close to any barns or any equipment for that matter..so in my case I wouldn't be near anything other then horse poo...Really I prolly wouldn't even need to jump the fence, but I see what you are saying prisoner...
