Water delivery to casing
    #3747368 - 02/07/05 09:40 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I've got this casing thats been in the fruiting chamber for a little over two weeks. It's made from 2 pf brf 1/2 pint jars with a half inch layer of verm on the bottom and likewise on the top. I was getting fed up with it and it looked kinda dry so I misted the shit out of it saturday night. Sunday morning I looked in and a single pin had shot up. I was very excited as it is my first pin ever. I've been watching it closely and it hasnt really done anything. The casing is starting to look a little dry again. I was thinking of using a syringe full of clean water to hydrate it by squirting all around where the casing had pulled away from the container. Will the mycelia absorb this and distribute it evenly or not? My temps are around 75 degrees and humidity seems to be around 90 percent. I fan 5 or 6 times a day and mist the sides lightly to keep it humid. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Here ya go, read this:

Remember mushrooms thrive in a "nearly saturated" environment! GL

My main question is: If I use a syringe to hydrate the sides where the mycellium pulled away from the container, will the mycellium "suck" this up and disperse it????????

I've read about everything I can at least once. I didnt find that article very helpful. Most of the teks or articles are vauge and give a general idea, but more questions are raised with a specific situation.

That would give you standing pools of water. You need to pack casing material, or at least verm, around the area where the casing pulled away if you want a shot at rehydrating.

Keep that casing at near saturation and you won't have that problem to such a degree   That was my point  BTW there will alway be some shrinkage. GL bro
