my sick HBWR...
    #3737370 - 02/05/05 08:38 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

some of you may remember me posting in  neuro's thread about my HBWR accidently sprayed with isopropyl...  well here she is!!  She's barely hanging on there, I had meant to spray the pot/soil with H2O2 since it was fighting a fungus, but grapped the wrong bottle!!   I got some of my pereskiopsis a little sick from the same mistake.

Hopefully she'll make a full recovery, she was a big and beautiful plant!! :sun:

I think it'll be fine; I see many new vines forming from the main stem
It's a great plant to have in your room. when it really takes off make sure it can hold on to something so it can grow all the way up the ceiling

yeah you should have seen it before I nearly killed it, it was HUGE!  it was growing like an inch a day!  it looks like it's on it's way to recovery...

DH--maybe cause it's been so cold out?  do you have yours by the window?  I've got my cuttings under 3 27W compact flouros... so they're constantly putting off shoots that grow like they're on steroids... in the summertime they were by the window and did fine.

yeah, I was thinking the lack of sunlight did it, but the cool weather probably didn't help either.  I'd like to get some flouros set up, but meh, I only have a few plants here anyway.  tried doing any grafts to the pereskis yet ?

Those lower nodes look like they've started to become active, looks like there's some leaves started to push out.

I've found that one of those GE plant light flood light things work pretty well for facilitating HBWR growth.

What is your soil composed of?

It looks very light and fluffy.
