Dessicants and refrigerating mushrooms

Ok ok, I know this isn't a cultivation question, but I figured you guys would know a lot about drying shrooms out.

The dessicants I had were shot, so when I picked some new Pan Subbs today, I threw them in the fridge... heres my questions

1. Will refrigerating them ruin potency?
2. I picked up something called "Damp away" or something like that... its a.. hmm I think Calcium chloride based dessicant, will it work for my purpose and is it safe? It looks like little white granules.
