    #3746936 - 02/07/05 07:57 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

OK so i have a Q Jar of WBS that was colonizing very fast. now after i shook it up there is no more growth. its been 3 days and there is nothing. i was wondering what would happen if i cased it right now the way it is and just put it back into the incubator would that help it?

would have to see a pic of ur growth and where it is, but i mean most of the time u incubate ur casing for a few days before putting it in the fruiting chamber neway so im sure this wont hurt

if its not fully colonized then you have very good odds that it will contam if you birth it.

Maybe its shaken baby syndrom :p

How much of it was colonized before you shook it? Was there water gathering in the bottom of the jar before shaking? I would agree that if you case now the uncolonized substrate will be more at risk for contams. Pics would be easier to say what may be wrong.

Do you have any way for gas exchange to occur (polyfil, tyvek, etc)? If there's a buildup of CO2 it could inhibit growth but I don't think it's typical that it would cause a jar to stall. Jars need a little time to recover after being shaken. There should be new growth after 3 days but just give it time. Make sure your temps are good and your jars can let gasses escape. Just keep your eye on them and if after a week there's no growth start over.

I have tyvek with coffee filters on top. right after i posted this thread i went and took off 1 of the filters on each jar (each jar had 2) now the myc seems to be growing again. i guess they couldn't breath. but with this jar(brf+verm) look like its growing right or not?
