first casing questions that I cant find

Ive searched for answers and cant find anything. I made my first casing yesterday (just verm) bout 1/4"on bottom and 1/2" on top with my mycobags in the middle. I did dunk and coldshock these for about 10 hours before I put into the casing. I have foil over the top of the containers just sitting in my closet at about 75?. Is this what I should have them doing right now? Thanks

you should have made the casing and given the mycelium time to recover before cold shocking it.

Your substrate is still in the bag with verm sandwiched on both sides???

god lord no its out of the bag jeeeeees. I took the blocks out of the bag ran them under cold water and through them in the fridge. Then I cut them into like slices and laid them on the bottom layer of verm. Well should I increase the temps or let them sit the way they are now.

Dunking and coldshocking casings isn't neccesary, I would not bother if it's your first time.
Always good to incubate a casing for a few days after making it, lets the myc recover nicely and helps speed up growth.

verm alone isn't a very good casing. I expect you will see contams but I hope not. Also, what type of substrate did you use? If it was grain or popcorn, why didn't you break it up as opposed to cutting into slices?

my bricks were just solid and I wasnt able to make an insursaion with my shit ass knifes. Ok well I just look at my casings real quick and there is like 1 or 2 spots on each where a little white growth is already to the top. I think everything as of now is fine. Im gonna keep them in my incubator at 82? until Wednesday, when I will begin fruiting.

You can get in from the SIDE...its made in layers..Ive used a butterknife to break it up so sharpness isnt nessesary.
You can also just expand the whole thing in a bucket then dry out any excess and save it in a bag or tub for later.

You're first post was at 2:03 and your last post where you claim to see growth is at 9:46..Now I have seen some fast colonization but there is no way that mycelium colonized up thru 1/2" of casing that quickly. Sounds like the contams are already in there. Keep updating. I am curious now. Any pics?

Some pics 2 days in. The dryer of the two has almost no growth. (should i mist this one a little more?)
casing 2 is going very well.
should I patch these or just let it keep going? Also when should I take the foil off the top and put them in my fruiting chamber?
