I just listened to a song called Magic Mushrooms by 1000 Mics. I liked it alot.
Can somone tell me about this band? It sounded very... Raja Ram-ish... Are my thoughts correct?

Their name is actually 1200 Mics. 
The Magic Mushroom track is off their self-titled release.

My mistake (about the name).
I liked it, but then again the only thing I've ever really listened to from Raja Ram is Shpongle. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I noticed somone said GHM (which I also listened to and thought sounded good).

if your into the goa psy-trance stuff check out the obligatory infected mushrooms and astral projection, green nuns of the revolutions, ect.
ive been gravitating towards things like mouse on mars...very interesting music.

Well I like the Goa/Psy stuff, but the thing that got me into Electronica was more Aphex Twin/Autechre type stuff. I liked Shpongle and the other stuff I've listened to from Raja Ram seems pretty good as well. (Is GHM Raja?)
I also dig on some of the softer stuff like Air, Mum, Boards of Canada, etc...
I keep hearing about Infected Mushroom and Astral Projection from people here. What is there sound like?
(I also like what I've listened to from The Orb)

Uhh yeah nothing but GMS-ish boredom coupled with utter cheesyness, especially in the second album. I am unable to see/hear any psychedelia in it, thus i have my reservations about calling it psytrance...
1200mics is GMS crew (the Growling Mad Scientists) + Raja Ram. They do create madness in dancefloors but if you compare them to most psy artists their music plain sucks.
Sad Raja Ram project IMHO. Can't really understand how he can go and make this music after co-creating the detailed thought-out psychedelia of the Shpongle and TIP projects.

For all the Raja haters out there, would you please point me in a direction that you feel is superior to Raja? Obviously staying in the constraints of Goa/Psytrance though. I'm interested in hearing others views on more psychadelic electronica. (Which is what I'm looking for)

I'm in no way a raja hater, he is one of the elder psy heads out there with goa gil.
TIP has turned into TIP World. they used to be one of the best labels associated with psytrance. but they have gone in a bad direction and their last releases is mostly crap.
to give a few names from the different styles in psytrance, try:
x-dream, misted muppet, protoculture, prometheus, freq, sun control species, cosmosis, filteria, man with no name, suria, ticon, son kite, vibe tribe.
the list can go on, but this should get you started :p

TIP = The Infinity Project, a very early trance and ambient band formed by Raja Ram and Graham Wood with some Simon Posford participations.
That band ended and Raja Ram made a label, TIPworld. I agree with Banjankri that most of their releases suck. I did enjoy the Crystal Skulls compilations though.
Suria is a compatriot of mine and i personally know one of its former members  . Now suria is only one guy and his latest works are damn good dancefloor music.
My current favorite psytrance band is Rastaliens.
EDIT: Hey no one is bashing Raja here. He is a super talented musician, his flutes are amazing and i absolutely love his DJ sets and damn good vibes. 1200mics sucks tho  . Check all Banjakri said + Miraculix, Rastaliens, Rinkadink, Neuromotor's latest stuff, Safi Connection, CPU.
Bahh there are so many good artists that it's unfair to mention some...
Just go find a party, eat some LSD and dance the night away

I think infinity project - mystical experiences is one of the best albums in the psychedelic history.
yeah I also like the crystal skulls series. there are a few gems out there from tip world including twelve, mystery of the yeti series
