I'd recommend reading some books published by tharpa publications (http://www.tharpa.com), if you can find them. Joyful path of good fortune by Geeshe Kelsang Gyatso is the best book I have read for introducing the ideas of Tibetan buddhism.

well, when the buddha gave monkey, tripitaka, sandy, & pigsy scripture with blank pages, monkey thought that they had been swindled... but, that's monkey for ya...

(a secret transmission, outside the scriptures...) sure, mahakapsya smiled at the flower lecture... but for the rest of us, a finger pointing at the moon can at least (hopefully) cause us to notice the moon... admittedly, some will mistake the finger for the moon (or the reflection for the moon, or...) but, wherever you go, there you are...

A man came riding furiously into town on his donkey, upsetting the merchants' carts and generally wreaking havoc.

Eventually, he was stopped by a policman who asked him why he was in such a panic. "Are you looking for something?" he asked.

"Yes", the man replied. "I'm looking for my donkey"

its amazing how many people recite things and they have absolutely no clue what they mean.
i would give you some books to read, but why bother? youd just fail this like youve failed everything else

Well there are many books on buddhism. Many of them are in an educational text book form, and teach about the history as well as methods but very little speak of actual application. however for inquiring minds I find that Siddhartha by Hermen Hesse is by far the most enlighting book on the subject. It follows the early years of siddhatha, the buddha, or god whatever name you wish to call him. It is the best book i have ever read. And I have read alot. Its only like 200pgs and costs like $5 in paperback

Hi. im glad your interested in Buddhism. First, I would recomend you visit http://www.shambhala.org/
In case you didnt know Shambhala is a way of life created by Ch?gyam Trungpa, Rinpoche. Trungpa Rinpoche came over to the western world during the 1950s when Tibet was invaded by China. He was considered a living Buddha. Ok, im not gonna right a histroy lesson. So go to shambhala.org read about the principles of Shambhala and learn a lot about Buddhism. I would recomend you find your local Shambhala/Budhist Center (your bound to have one near you) and learn more about everyting there. Also I would check out books published by Shambhala Publishing. They publish all of Trungpa Rinpoche's books as well as many other great buddhist teachers. Hmm, I Dont know what else to say except that im 16 and im a member of the Dorje Kasung. Ask me or do research to find out about the Dorje Kasung, I think everyone should be a member of it.
