take the ones that might be contaminated out of the terrarium until someone tells you otherwise. you don't want to risk getting your other cakes sick. a pic would help

Cakes can bruise blueish, after being "ducked". Foul smells are not a good thing, though.

BTW, just what did the duck do to the cake? Brings odd mental images to mind (:tongue2:joke )

I know what strikes me as odd about this. It is totally unnatural. The whole idea is just totally backwards.

So are historians going to look back at 'The Great Cake Eaters'? Damn. That was a backwards step in the evolutionary process. We left Shroomheads in the dust. Welcome to the new age of Vermheads.

The "Sock" odor is yeast, it is about to start fermenting.

You can reshock those in 50% (Common 3%) peroxide. The smell may get worse initially, but that will stop them from getting lost. The bacteria "Yeast" will destroy the food before the mycelium and will bruise/kill/digest the mycelium when the food is gone.

(If you have doubts, throw it out. If you are ambicious, isolate and experiment, but don't eat them, only use thier spores. If that is severe contamination, and you get survivors, those may be desireable spores.)
