flowing chill out music?
    #3743859 - 02/07/05 01:05 AM (18 years, 11 months ago)

im makign my ultimate chillout cd with music that is really lax but still has a good catchy flowing beat.

here are some songs that i am putting on it.  id love some suggestions from everyone. *means one of my favs.  i really like piano and good guitars.

kinks-waterloo sunset*  & set me free
cure-love song
eagles-desperado*
magic carpet ride
sublime-santeria & lovin is what i got
slightly stoopid-coolie man
neil young-old man
floyd-comfortably numb (of course)  ther ewill eb more of floyd, so dotn ened any suggestions there )
rollign stones-satisfaction, miss you
incubus-drive, aquarius transmission
zeplin-simple man
u2-mysterious ways, vertigo*
tracy chapman-fast car*

thats sorta teh idea.  tehres more but i could go on forever.

any suggestions?  stoner music is cool...but stuff where they are completely cracked out im avoiding (ie some of hendrix, doors etc).  too fast and sporadic for this cd.  lookign for a completely reelaxing cd i can jsut lay back and zone out to for hours.

thanks for any input.

Another Neil Young song is "needle adn the spoon" I think thats the name its on his unplugged cd adn its about heroin.

"Hey Jude" and "Black Bird" Beatles

"Mona lisa and Mad Hatters" "Rocket Man" and "Tiny Dancer" Elton John

"Tears in heaven" Eric Clapton

"Little Wing" and "Castles Made of Sand" Hendrix Both of these are very mellow hendrix songs.

"Vietnam Song" Country Joe and the Fish. It might be called "What are we fighting for" Im not sure. (Best anti-nam anthem in my opinion)

"Going to California" Zeppelin.

"Ballad of Curtis Lowe" Lynyrd Skynryd

Thats all for now peace dude

Kinks...nice.

You should play "21st Century Schizoid Man" by King Crimson. I just got done listening to that song a little while ago. They're a really good progressive rock band from the seventies, and that is one of their best songs IMO.

Yea thats its pinball good call, and it is a great song.

Good call on Jack Johnson by the way he's kick ass.

Heres a few more

"Something" Beatles, This is a fucking amazing song, ahh so great.

That new Jet song is very kick ass sort of "beatles-eque" Sorry i cant remember teh title, but last i saw it was number 3 on the Fuse countdown.

Just about anything off of CSN&Young Deja vu album, but these especially; "Helpless" "Our House"(<--My personal favorite) "4+20" "Deja Vu"

"Seven Spanish Angels" "Crazy" "Blue eyes crying in the rain" Willie Nelson

"Georgia on my mind" Ray Charles.

Peace

You could buy records, 3 or 4 bucks at half price book store, adn in my opinion they sound better. Not "clean" like a cd but if played on a good turntable with an elipitical needle the range and tonal qualities are definately better IMO. Peace

You clearly have no idea about what you're talking about. Don't generalize and don't bash what you don't know.

There is lots of sucky electronica. There is lots of amazing electronica.

'all electronic music sucks' = 'all analogic music sucks' = 'all drugs are bad' = stupid prejudices.

You're entitled to your opinion that it's not good music, but to say it's not music at all is absurd. Try telling that to the people that create those songs and sets. I'm sure they put just as much effort and learning into using synths and other programs and people who use a guitar or drums do.

It's not moronic. It's a matter of preference. Just b/c velveeta isn't real cheese doesn't mean that all people like cheese better than velveeta.

Get over yourself, you're being ignorant.

You can shove your absolutist opinions up your kiester. I have never made a statement like you just made in my life. Sure there are some genres of music that I don't particularly care for but to say that it is all bad is totally nonsensical.
Electronic music can be just as complex as analog musical pieces. Some of the melodies, rythymns, and layering of electronic music are considered absolute masterpieces by me.
Seriously, are you trying to start a flame war here, because I am willing to burn one ignorant sucker right here and now.

aww give him a break, i know some of the stuff he said was pretty ignorant but this is a psychedelic community

i used to think electronic music sucked too but that was only because i never heard any good electronic stuff til i came here. now i can't get enough of it, but still everyone has to admit there is some really bad electronic stuff out there but there's also brilliant masterpieces. i still cannot stand 120 bpm (or similar) electronic music (thump.. thump.. thump.. thump..) << this would be a perfect place for a suicide emoticon .

all of the albums you listen produced by mixers etc also.
are they also fake?
its so weird to discuss about that,
ofcourse it is real and ofcourse its so fucking great!

Its not music unless it comes out of an instrument. synthesizers do not make music they imitate it. Its like picking velveeta over a block of cheddar.

wow

so what you're saying is that certain instruments are 'better' or 'realer' than others (specifically, the less electronics involved, the better), and therefore the music created on these instruments is 'better' or 'worse', or 'realer' or 'less real', depending?? wtf?

how about electric guitars? how about all those songs you like listening to which feature electric keyboards, although you can't tel the difference? how about using microphones or amplification? is a handmade guitar intrinsically 'better' than one made in a factory?

by the way, synthesizers are instruments, by just about any definition of the word you care for.

seriously, why the un-thought out emotional reaction against synths? did your girlfriend leave you for a moog?

who prefers a key board imitating a piano to the sound of an actual Grand Piano? No one. and you CAN tell the difference, at least i can.

amplification is not sythesizing you are still getting actual sounds produced organicly and just making them louder. Same thing with electric guitars, its an organic sound picked up by magnets in the pickups. any effects are just twisting that sound.

So i say again why in the fuck would want to listen to something imitate something else, when you can have the real thing. A SYNTH IS NOT A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT. Its a musical imitator. AND its missing so much that a real instrument has. There are subtle harmonics and the like that solid state technology CANNOT make. Its the same reason that line6 amps(solid state) sound like shit when you put them next to a 30 year old fender or marshall(tube).

Like you said "I'm sure they put just as much effort and learning into using synths and other programs and people who use a guitar or drums do." why would you choose to spend that much time learning to play something that will by definition never sound as good as the real thing?

Its fucking electronic for gods sake. would you call a sythesized voice from a computer "human" NO. Its the same thing. Its sound, adn im not saying you cant like it, all im saying is that its not music. Music is made organicly not electronicly.

Peace

Wrong and ignorant.

Just because it's not created by guitars or drums or other traditional instruments does not mean that it isn't. Just because it is electronic or artificial music doesn't mean it's not music.

Your logic makes little to no sense. If some tribesman can pound on a drum, and it counts as music, then the complex sets put together by artists who make electornic music definitely is music.

So do people who use photoshop and other computerized means to create illustrations not count as artists?

I say again do you think that a computerized voice is real? or human? NO the fact that it is a voice and speaks like a human doesnt make it any more real. Just because you can play something that sounds like a drum and arrange the sounds like its a drum does not make it a drum. Music is real, synths are not.
