i just birthed my jars today and i noticed some of them had a black or a really deep navy blue type coloring on the top and bottom of the cake. i checked it out, and the cakes smell very nice and mushroomy, no bad smell. also, scratching the black away i noticed that it is very thin and only on the very very top layer. the whole top of the cake is not black by the way, just little splotches.
however, on one cake the black had spread deeper into the mycelium, but it still smelled good. i decided to be safe and chuck that one, but i'm not sure about the others. should i just wait it out?
