is the plain distilled water really what youre shrooms want? i was thinking that maybe you could take the water theat you get after you steep youre finch seed, and put that in a humidifier??? i heard that water is like pure nutrient juice.i would think that you would need to sterilize it somehow though. need some feedback
how do you expect people to watch the brady bunch without any lsd?

I think if you did that, you would have certain contamination in no time. Shrooms do not get nutrients from humidified air (at least not much at all). Stick with distilled water and juice it with some H2O2. A fun experiment would be to take that birdseed nutrient-rich water, freeze it immediately. When ready to rehydrate some cakes, thaw, boil for 30 minutes (will probably need to add water) and use that to rehydrate. It just might get you one hell of a second or third flush! Of course I've never tried this, but sounds like it *could* work. MikeO

Sounds like your inviting green mold to the shroom growin party. Shrooms don't get nutrition from humid air, it just keeps them hydrated and allows for pinning. The nutrient mist would condense on the cakes, terrarium, etc and contamination would devour it like wildfire.

I agree, contamination would take over the grow chamber.. but you could add some honey sterilize and it might make some sweet growth media to increase innoculation levels. Duncan8r
Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer. --Dave Barry
