Can Dung be TO old??
    #3740928 - 02/06/05 04:07 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

First time with dung here So I have a few /'S. I went and collected 2 5 gal buckets full of biscuts the other day and I THOUGHT I remember reading that you want to look for the old patties and that white growth is beneficial bacteria and thats what you want to look for. Here is a pic of what I collected. I looked for the OLDEST, WHITEST patties I could find and Im wondering if they can be TO OLD. Are these what Im after or should I look for something not quite as old next time??

They are VERY brittle and smell like soil, no shit smell here. So next time should I collect more of the same or look for something a bit "newer" ?????

Thanks!

The cat uses horse shit and he collects only the oldest turds, so old they are practically crumbling apart. I assume one would look for the same characteristics in cow shit.

So long as it's not petrified / fossilized, it's a go.

From the picture i'd say your fine, i've seen shit used that looked about at that point. I do know that you could have used stuff with a bit more colour to it though. Only way to know if it works is to try it though. If it doesn't work then make sure to post and let us all know, that'd be the first time I heard of poo being to old! Good Luck.
