Contamination question
    #3740665 - 02/06/05 03:00 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

So if I have a contaminated cake, but I let it grow all the way to a spore print size and take the mushroom for a print, is that mushroom's spores infected? I understand the mushroom for consumption is dangerous, but what about for reproductive means?

I would think that the mushrrom spores also have a good chance at having the mold spores in it too.
I would say it's not worth it :frown:

I am more interested in a precise answer here.... it all goes along with trying to understand the sexuality of fungi to create new strands, if that is possible.

It depends on the kind of contamination. If you're dealing with airborne contamination, it will increase the chances of a contaminated print.
This is a trial and error procedure and mostly a shot in the dark. If have no more prints, then you should risk it in a couple of jars. But if you have more prints then it doesn't worth it.

Could you be more precise ?
