Boiling water was poured over dry collected cow patties, let sit for 20 minutes, drained and cooled down a little, then the patties were crumbled. Put in a bowl, wetted with a little more water to the target water content(when you press a handfull, some water should drip out). Then the mixture was put in a covered bowl and microwaved at 800W for 10 minutes. Cooled down, mixed with rye grain spawn and put into 3 trays and the leftover in a jar. When it?s colonized, I?m going to case it with coco coir/chrushed oyster shells casing. If you look carefuly, you can see a green spot in the jar. It?s a seedling germinating. There are even more in the jar. Obviously the pasteurisation I used wasn?t that good. I hope this won?t jeopardize my efforts.

I hate when those seedlings pop up. One time I had about five on my casing layer.

Shit, I can't see your picture, Anno; I have had many little seedlings try to eek out an existence on my colonizing dung. . .never hampered things at all. In fact, the psilocybe puts a whooping on them, eating away at the stem tissue. What you described is exactly the way I've done dung before, perhaps a little longer soaking time. The trick is finding the right patties. :) Will try to catch your pic later! [how was Greece?]

Here are both of the pics, day 5 and 6.
The patties of the greek cows are almost like very fine shreded straw, the consistancy after they are soaked is very airy, almost like coco coir. > What you described is exactly the way I've done dung before, .... Well, could this be an coincidence? I read your dung report on TFF of course, thank you. ;) Greece was very nice, but tell me how was Europe for you? --------------------------------------- kickme.to/mushroomsEdited by Anno on 08/19/01 01:39 AM.

Day 9, nearly done. The dung I put directly into aluminium pans was ready 2 days ago, probably since in the bulk the temperature gets a bit higher and thus the colonisation is faster. The pans are already in the terrarium.

The trays that I made with the dung are fruiting. There is no massive flush, but the few resulting fruits are huge.

nice... what they lack in number, they make up for in size.... AND HOW! I have seen some monster prints from Ecuadors and heard stories about them getting amazingly huge... looks like i might be raising the wrong strain after all.... Damn you golden teachers!.... Actually they're fine by my tastes...... these look *VERY* promising tho... I'm impressed! As always, awsome work Anno!

The first fush was in the setup with the coke bottle, the second was in a box with holes and only passive aeration.

Hey..just wanted to share my weird experience....I was pressure cooking horse shit...and my mom came home 5 minutes in...so i yanked it off the stove and put it i the backyard...and just left it for like two hours..... Turns out.,...pasteurized perfectly...and colonized in about 3 days...I guess the slowly cooling of the water and the higyh pressure still in the pressure cooker pastuerized it perfectly. Just thought I mihgt want to share. Awesome shroomies tho. Thumbs up! : )
