The Universe in a Nutshell

Has anyone read this book by Stephen Hawking? What did you think of it? I found it to be very informative regarding things like relativity, quantum mechanics, and string theory. However, I thought some of his assumptions regarding intelligent alien life and genetic engineering seemed a bit overreaching. My brother, who is a Mechanical Engineering major, said that he seems to assume the existence of imaginary time without providing evidence for it. Any other thoughts on it?

Yeah, I started to read it, but got stuck about 1/3 of the way through. Very interesting theories with lots of great illustrations, but in the end my high-school educated brain just couldn't cut it.
Oh, and didn't he recently publicize that he was wrong about the wormholes?
Peace!

the new issue of Scientific American has an interesting article about the misconception about the big bang theory that is quite interesting. i will definely look into picking up the aforementioned books.
