Filtered Air

Hey regarding the common filtered "air-box" to put air pumps in(rubbermaid box with filtered hole..otherwise sealed)would it be easier/more effective to take off the bottom and cover it with a microm magic or similar filter?Im sure there is an easy way to do this....will try with my next setup...

any suggestions/theorys/stories?

If you took the rubber bottom plate that the air pump came with and cut out most of it's center area, then you could sandwich the air filter between the plastic pump housing and the cutout rubber bottom plate (just use the screws it came with). I would think this would filter well. BUT, where would you then place the pump? -On the floor!? Or suspend it!? Contamination city. The box provides a better sealed environment IMHO.

I think the box idea is good beacause you can put several pupms in there...if the seal is tight between the rubber and plastic (i dont think it would be though i thought about that...obviously the seal is not air tight before tampering..or no air could get to pupme) But if the seal wa good the area would stil be dust free, cause all the air that got in there got filtered...but i think you are right the box is just neater,more reliable and roomy enough for tons of pumps
