only a few pins...

Recently, a few of my friend's Gulf Coast jars started to pin invitro. The thing is, it's been two days since the pins have formed, and there's only 2 pins at the very top of the jar, where the verm. meets the brf. Will there be more pins? Sorry, she's very impatient. Instead of waiting a few days to find out, she would prefer an answer ASAP. So, anyone know if more pins will come, and why they are only at the top? She can barely see them, the jar lid is in the way... Thanks for any help.

They are at the top because it's the place where they have more air, like in nature, they grow at the top don't they ?

Could just be that Gulf Coast's don't do well in-vitro, not all strains work out well when grown that way. You will get more pins, just probably not in the next few days.

Well, 3M and a few others have said that GC's are good for invitro, so I don't think that's the problem. Oh well, I guess she'll have to wait it out...

if you already have pins, why are they still in the jar? in my experience's ive had the same thing so i decided they were ready to be taken out of there jars, the next day there were at least 50 or so more pins on each cake.... maybe its just time to 'birth' them..?
You approach the turnstiles and know that when you get there you have to give the man two dollars or he won't let you inside but when you get there everything goes wrong.

they're still in the jar because my friend is doing the Invitro tek, where you leave them in the jar... She birthed only one cake about a week ago, and no pins on that one yet.

Did you open the damn jars just once to let the mycellium breed ? If you did so then pins start to form above the nutritional layer, other problem could be a very packed substrate, anyway read hippies invitro TEK, you'll see what i mean.
