I have been wanting to grow my own psilocybe cubensis for a while now but have been nervous about the paper trail from ordering syringes/spores/etc. I have just recently (2 days ago) been able to aquire some dry psilocybe cubensis after going all summer without (Rejoice!) and the friend who supplied me with them was interested in the growing processes i was telling him about earlier in the summer. He suggested that I try to use the "dust" at the bottom of the plastic bag to grow them, that maybe there would be spores in it. Although I doubt this would be a practical idea, I DO have a small amount of dust at the bottom of the bag and I was wondering if anyone had any idea if this would be a possible way of growing shrooms? There are also some whole caps with the musrooms that I bought. Any help would be appreciated!

I've heard of this actually working once, but I'm sure it's an EXTREMELY rare occurance, and probably by an extremely advanced mycologist.. I thought of trying it out, but decided it just wasn't worth the time and effort it would take to watch it fail. I'd suggest finding a supplier who won't keep records of their sales and getting a syringe. I know Sporeworks doesn't, and they're reliable and helpful. Still, if you did want to try the shroom dust, you'd want to find some way to rehydrate the spores.. Maybe try the honey tek or something? The problem is that the source you're working with is probably so contaminated with spores from other junk that chance of success is almost non existant. I guess if you did something like grow out the mess of spores and then isolate any growing mycelium it might work, but you have to ask yourself, is it really worth all that trouble for a little paranoia?

You might be LUCKY and have some spores "alive" in the shroom dust,... but i don't think it worth the trouble, anyway you could try the dust on agar and see if it grows something (you'll surely get contams also, if not only contams), depending on the amount of dust you have, i would make a tea and drink it ;).. just an idea!!!

Just order a syringe. They are, afterall legal, unless you're in CA. The only other way to get some spores is to "trade" with some home grower. They could send you a print and you can make your own syringe. Check the "spore exchange" or whatever it's called forum. I'm sure someone's willing to help you out.

Try makeing some honey water and adding the dust to it. that may work for you and you will see if it is going to grow before you make up and waste a bunch of substrate.
If that does not work for you let me know i have a Golden Teacher print here that did not come out to dark but should still work fine. I was going to just throw it in my back yard with some dung. But since you can use it it's yours just PM me your address.

My first batch i had ordered the nsyringes to my friends house...But i had to say to myself...get real....nobody cares....look at this board just about ALL these people have at one time orders prints,some people probably buy load of em look how many people are in the spore buisness...believe it or not cops are rational...mister investigator thinks...i wanna catch some people growing shrooms..where to start...ok mister spore vendor gimme all your paperwork haha here this guy...right here charles swartzh..hahahaha he ordered three syringes a week ago.....ill get this guy hahahah......see i think IF an investigator wanted to get a shroomer(1% chance anyhow...if he is doing all that work he want a big bust on propaganda drugs like buds or meth) woudnt it be logical for him to say hey shroom spore vendor just where the hell do you get those spores anyhow?they want the big guys not little daytripper me...that how i feel its like opirated software masn they want DISTRIBUTERS or big huge operation.....
after i thought this i felt really alot better bout orderin spores i hope you do to....
