okay well my straw casing was going great until recently it colonized the straw completely so i cased it 5 days ago and it is refusing to colonize the casing layer i dont know why but it jsut wont do it any suggestions

1.-1.5 inches is really thick! What is the casing material, and are you using small or large verm? What are temperatures?

Perhaps it is sealed. Try lightly fluffing the top layer of casing material, paying close attention not to damage the myc.

i did that ^^^^^^
and my casing is 60-40 coco coir and verm it works with all my other casings :frown:

the temps are low 80s

and i heard that a casing layer was supposed to be 1/4 of the substrate depth maybe this is wrong i could remove some casing if that would help

Definitely, that's too thick of a casing layer to colonize in my opinion. I never exceed 1/2" for that reason.

3/4" is the most you should go...its 1/3 the substrate depth..but you shouldnt go over 3/4"-1" either way..

Could be contams and could just be slow. Wait it out I say..
