Merkaba is a breathing and meditation technique which supposedly when done right, can be a vehicle for astral travel somewhat. I have yet to try it, because I am just now reading on it, and it seems to take a good while to get it. According to the idea of merkaba, by doing this, an energy field surrounds you, which is shaped like a tetragon. There are 18 breaths that have to be taken, with each one a completely different focus and thought.
here are some links if anyone is interested, which I doubt they will be since I posted it. But anyway here they are...
I have also foud out that this has a lot to do with sacred geometry and the platonic solids. I am trying to get this book called "the flower of life" which has spawned thousands of devoted followers to this practice, there are now even workshops to practice Merkaba and many people talk about OOBE's. For those of you who might be interested in this sort of thing...
Merkaba is a Hebrew and Kabbalistic term which refers to the 'Throne' of GOD. Merkaba mysticism developed out of the visions of the Prophet Ezekiel. I am all in favor of meditation techniques, but I am a purist and do not like the mixing of unrelated symbols and traditions (in this case a Hindu Yogic model with a Hebrew name).
In Egyptian Mysteries, it is the Feminine side of the Godhead referred to as Isis (actually, Au-set, in Egyptian, Isis is a Greek name) that is responsible for magickal practices and wisdom. Au-set means 'throne' and the Pharoah's were therefore seated upon Au-set - the Goddess of magic and mystery. The 'Ka' and the 'Ba' refer to the two souls that inhabit the human being. The Ka is the life force, the Ba is the astral body. If, at the 'Judgement,' the deceased person's Heart balances with Maat's feather, the Ka and the Ba are united into a spirit called 'ahk,' which then dwells in the Realm of Light ruled by Isis's consort Osirus - god of resurrection. Ka and Ba may be word roots in Merkaba, and may well be related to Islam's Kaba - the cube which houses the meteoric rock from which Mohammed was translated into Heaven.
Just some points you might find relevant - use 'em or lose 'em
yeah, my friend is reading "the flower of life" right now and in an excited state tried to relate to me what you just said, but was learning it almost at the same time he was telling me. This book, which i am trying to get right now, has linked a bunch of crazy crap, ranging from platonic solids, the golden ratio, nephilim, greek mythology and such. Just goes to prove, the more you learn, the less you know.
