How much light is needed?

I am wondering how much light is needed indoor to cultivate, do i need to go out and buy a light or is window light adequte.

Think about how they naturally grow.. When the mycelium reaches the surface of the cow dung/whatever and is exposed to light and slightly colder temps, that's it's signal to start pinning so it can drop some spores and reproduce. I've noticed this question gets asked a lot here, despite the fact that it's answered over and over.. A little reading doesn't hurt =)

heres the thing if u give it alot of light but somewhat clouded(like say leafs or branches blocking the sun in nature) the mush will grow bigger, since they wanna get above the obstruction to drop there spores. Anyways if u don't supply em a steady amound of light per day, they will start growing into the substrate/casing. So ~3hrs per day should be fine, but having a clear lid is ideal.
