Preparing San Pedro

I have 25 grams of San Pedro "Dried Green Tissue" ordered from EthnoBotanySource.com. I believe that they cut the active part from the cactus and dried it. Is there a way to prepare it, or do I just eat it? It really doesn't look edible. For one the pieces are hard as a rock, but I might be able to crunch them up with my teeth. Also any idea how much mescaline is in it?

You need to boil it. But first go to search in the etho. forum and search for prepairing san pedro. Hope this helps.

I think you're suppose to like boil it for 4 hours, then drink the liquid and eat the pulp....it's not technically edible, bitter bitter bitter bitter bitter....

Thanks. The difference is that I am using only the dried green tissue, which I assume is the active part, and I'm sure the teks refer to using a whole cactus cutting, but I will search anyway.

You can grind it up in a coffee grinder and capsulate them

Or grind into a powder and chase with a mountain dew. Either way, the onset is longer than the fresh brew (you gotta digest it a bit).

thanks mike, out of curiosity is it the same extraction as the DMT extraction....in other words could one use shellite (naptha) instead of xylene?

I will never eat cactus or drink cactus tea again. I did that four times before my friend discovered an alcohol extraction that gives you a small fraction of the nausea assosiated with eating it.

I haven't tried the acid extraction, but heres a simple alcohol extarction:

You slice up the fresh cactus, let it dry out, grind it into a powder, and cover the powder in 190 proof grain alcohol. Let the alcohol evaporate, and repeat a few times if you want to. All that should be left is a tarry substance. Consume and enjoy.

as a kid my friends and i would put on welding gloves and skate down the street stealing san pedro out of our neighbors yards. once we had a big enough haul we would go find the biggest pot we could. next on the hit list was the beer and water. about this time the sun would drop. we would go to the local oak wooded park and make a fire. on top of the fire we would put the cactus, minus the needles, minus the fiber inside. we would let it simmer all night while we got drunk. when our parents wouold goto work the next day we would stick the sludge in the oven on low until we had a black and bitter paste. the paste wqas made into lil balls then rolled in powdered sugar and swallowed down with more beer. we did this a couple times a month for about two years. when my mom caught us cookin it we told her it was a salve for the drum skins that we were always playin in the back yard. i lied to my mom thru the patterns i saw before my eyes. lets have a cheer for san pedro and american youth!

Um let me add that 25 grams will probably not do much for you. According to Ekstaza:
Here is an estimate of the content for mescaline containing cactii.
* Lophophora williamsii - 300 mg / 27 g dried material
* Trichocerus peruvianus - 300 mg / 15 to 100 grams dried material (.3% - 2.0%)
* Trichocerus pachanoi - 300 mg / 15 to 100 grams grams dried material (.3% - 2.0%)

At 34 grams, if you have the weakest T. Peruvianus or T. Pachanoi, you will just have a threshold dose.
See: 34,000mg * .003 = 102mg of mescaline

.3% is a bit on the low end though. The main sources selling dry skin (not sure where this stuff is from) contain closer to 1%

Oh, and going down the street stealing insane amounts of pedro is one of the most fucked up things I've read all day.
