I have some that I have been incubating for over 10 weeks now that are barely 1/2 colonized. The three jars that did colonize have been in the fruiting chamber for 3 weeks with no pins yet. I even cold shocked, dunked and rolled one cake to speed things up. That was over a week ago and still no signs of pining. I'm gonna wait it out, since there is no signs of any contams. I am planning on ordering some EQ's to start another batch and see how that one works. Good luck!

Same.

But it is probably just another factor. I've only ever heard good things about GT. Yet never grown them personally.

I've read about a couple people having probs with slow colonization of GT's, but it always ended up being an outside factor, not the strain itself. Anyway, I ordered GT's and PR's recently since I've read about PR's having extremely fast col. times as well as very rizomorphic growth. This way I'll be able to gauge them against each other... Anyway, what sub. are you using? PF cakes??? Grain?? How is the gas exchange? Are you using any tyvek or polyfil??? Also how long did you wait till you inoculated? You could have burnt up your spores...

I've had half pints of GT colonize quite fast even without an incubation setup.

If it is viable spores you used then it prob ain the strain. But with all the cloning and isolating a strain aint a strain anymore. And GT has varieties mind me.

But my GT colonises fast, on BRF on WBS and also when spawned to straw.

My GTs took about a week to start showing myc signs, but once they did, it seems to be noticeably larger each day. I wouldn''t say slow to colonize compared to other strains I've read about. Also, since this is my first grow, I half expected more problems by this point in time. I've had none. =P

I have some jars of GT that I started 3 days ago, and they already have nice streaks of mycelium down the side of the jars. My temp stays at around 82 deg. F. I also have Cambodians and they fully colonized pint jars in about 2 1/2 weeks. Good solid strains, both, imo.
