I don't get cottonmouth anymore. But then, smoking doesn't get me high like it used to. I used to think it was caused my the hot smoke but in light of cottonmouth's diminished effect along with increased tolerance, the cause is likely chemical in nature.

"The active ingredient in Marijuana is a chemical called THC
(tetrahydrocannabinol). One of the things that THC does is act as an
anticholinergic drug. Anticholinergics prevent the neurotransmitter
acetylcholine from doing its thing. This causes different side effects,
including dry mouth and dry skin (from decreased sweating), rapid heart
rate and skin flushing."

That can be annoying as hell if you smoke weed right before you go to sleep.

Since when is THC anticholinergic? I mean I could be mistaken, but I have never heard that and I don't believe that it's true. The brain has its own set of cannabinoid receptors which THC acts on (although it certainly acts on other regions), again, I could be mistaken. Can anyone show me a study or some such indicating its anticholinergic properties?

It seems to go hand in hand with the whole eye drying thing. I don't get the munchies (ever) so I don't know what that has to do with it.

I usually get drymouth + munchies after smoking, not so much that I can't ignore it, but I think the two go hand in hand because when I get ahold of some food suddenly I am salivating again.

Just bring a full water bottle with you everywhere you go.
