Get a chameleon there really neat, they have allot of character too, a friend of mines girlfriend has one and it will eat from her hand, it's always doing something, or changing color, and they're just really pet-like.

Bearded dragons are also very friendly and will like chill on your shoulder, apparently. They eat pinkies though, as I recall (baby mice) so not so much for the squeamish.

Aquariums are cool, although they can be rather expensive sometimes. Have you considered a terrarium with a couple of gheckos?

My sister has a flying squirell and damn, that thing is so cool. I want one soooo bad. Unfortunately, I don't think you can buy them anywhere. She caught this one and tamed it. She turned her guest bedroom into a giant squirell-room. He just runs around in there and jumps on things and whatnot. When you go in to see him, he'll run up your leg and sit on your shoulder. Coolest pet in the world, IMO.

How about a Guineau pig or perhaps a rabbit? Those things, especially the Guineau pigs, are pretty cool.

Rabbits are shitty pets IMO. Literally. They stink like shit too and aren't very friendly at all.
Go for the fish tank. I think setting up the tank the way you want it and picking out the fish you want is fun. Can get spendy though.
Sometimes when I'm boomin I'll sit and look at a fishtank for hours. Way trippy.

yo I have had 8 six foot+ iguanas and they are the best stoner pet as all you have to do is feed them vegies and keep them warm they can totally be potty trained and everything adopt an iguana they all need homes

Have you thought about rats? They're brilliant pets, can be toilet trained, are very friendly, and are intelligent. They only smell if you don't clean them out, and are so much cleverer and affectionate, compared to mice and hamsters. If you keep two, it's doubly entertaining. I love reptiles, but imo you have to be pretty dedicated to look after them properly. Heated vivariums, special diet, etc. Rats are very easy to feed and look after. If you want any more info, pm me. I used to breed them.

Maintaining a freshwater aquarium is a lot less expensive and less maintenance than the suggestions offered above. Not saying they are bad suggestions, as most animals are awesome to keep as pets, but whatever you choose, remember it has a life and may have special needs. You are its parent. You control its environment. Essentially, its life is in your hands. Take great care in whichever you choose, read up on it, and you'll have a friendly companion(s) for a long time.

A rabbit can be an awesome pet if properly cared for! Too many people put them outside or neglect them. They can be trained to do tricks and come when called, and they DO NOT SMELL if you take good care of them.
I have a mini rex, fully grown, litter trained, doesn't smell, and is the softest thing ever (second only to the chinchilla). He has a 2-level cage, so he'll sit on the top floor so that he's eye-level with us. He'll just chill up there and watch us play video games for hours. He is the chillest animal ever, and he is soooooo soft! Best of all, no one is ever scared or grossed out by a bunny! I like reptiles, but you just can't pet them like a furry animal
Keep in mind that you have a cat though, don't get a pet your cat can eat!
If'in I were you, I'd get a 29 gallon aquarium. That is a nice size to start with, and put some nice freshwater fish in there. PLEASE do some research about fish and what species live well together! Too many people are stupid pet owners and have miserabel fish. http://www.liveaquaria.com/ is a great place to do some research, and they also have quality pet products at reasonable prices. I personally recommend cichlids (you can only get them from one lake though, no mixing lakes!) because they are very intelligent fish, and you will develop a relationship with them quickly. They all have their own personalities, so please research them well! Make sure that you set up the tank well and let it get established (maybe with a pleco or some catfish) first before you add the fish, and make sure you add all the fish at the same time.
Sorry for all the rambling I like fish, have 4 tanks myself, so if you have any questions, please ask! Aquariums make great things to stare at when stoned or tripping

you cant pet a fish though...why not get another cat? sure, they smell too, but youve already got ONE. why not go for two. or how about a teacup chijuajua? wawa...i'll never be able to spell that...wah wah...well anyway, get a friend for your cat. he'll come more more often, mayhap. pet rocks are nice. how about an invisible friend? a spider? some have fur? how about that guy that was writing about growing cancer? its morbid, but interesting...a venus fly trap? a marching battillion of fly traps? carniverous plants can be fun. how about one of those electronic japaneese robotic dogs?

Reptiles aren't as hard to keep as most people think. I have a five foot alligator and several venomous snakes. With the right setup, they are very low maintanace animals.
