hello again everyone. So as i wait for my jars to colonize i am weighing my options for heating my rubbermaid. Does anyone have any experience with setting a rubbermaid on a heating pad to try and heat it? If you do or know a link to a tek on this let me know! It probably wont be suffecient but im interested in exploring the possibilty. Appreciate it, thanks

Heating pads are bad choice of heating IMHO .
They do not always heat an area evenly ,. they are tough to keep temp range right , and worse they are a fire hazzard when used for long periods of time .

I'm a newbie but this is what I did....got a heating pad..put it under a sterlite....put it on high and let it sit for 12 hours...with a digital thermometer...took the inside temperature(by placing thermometer on inside bottom of plastic sterlite. I registered 87 degrees...which is a little to high...so i added crumbled pieces of tin foil on the bottom of the container to rest my spawn bag on(this will act as a buffer)my temp by my bag raised in elevation is 82 degrees.......the only thing is make sure your are fire safe!!!!

Trips right, they will work, but are not reliable. I am currently using an old freezer heated by a pad. It is working good, but it is in a well insulated area.
I'm also lucky it hasn't given out yet, they are not designed to run 24/7. Also, I don't have a fire situation.
A heating pad will work wrapped in a towel, with the tub on top of that, your jars in side on top of a piece of plastic, so they won't get localized heating. (shoe boxes work good to.)
And a towel over the whole 3 meters. ; )
I also have an electric blanket element (which works even better than a pad), and a TiT on hold so, if it gives out...

Hope this helps
