OKAY

I just want to know, if any of you guyz or GALS have had any like, drastic mood swings from like, SSRI's and stuff and such.

It has been happening a lot lately and it's annoying.

Care to share so I once more can breathe fresh air?

Eww...if you're on an SSRI, you should talk to your doc. about going off. If you're having major mood swings, you should talk to him/her about a mood stabilizer.

Making the noise "penicillin" is no substitute for actually taking penicillin.

Try St. Johns Wort that seems to help.

Eh, St. John's Wort is very mild and has very little activity. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that most benefit that people report from it is more due to placebo.

Although you're on the right track...there are a number of OTC plants and chemicals that can help.

like almost any mood/behavior adjusting herb, it is easy to criticise it doe to it's low/subtle activity, but this should not be taken to mean it does not work.

i've taken St. John's wort for a long time now, though not currently, and aside from severe depressions, it is all the gentle lift one should need to help temselves stabilize thier moods. it is not a replacement for strong pharms, it is a different treatement for those who do not *need* them.

From what I've read, St. John's Wort (Wort Wort!) is the type of herbal remedy that one would use IN PLACE of an SSRI for moderate depression.

Note: I have very little first had experience with [it]; I have only taken it for about a week which had no effect on my mood.

I feel motivated to tell anyone and everyone who will listen: stop the pharmaceutical madness while you are able to.

Study and utilize ethical amounts of herbs.

Buy this book or another one that suits you:
The Holistic Herbal by David Hofmann

Others:
The Way of Herbs by Michael Tierra
The Herbal Medicine Maker's Handbook by James Green

Be positive no matter what.

Find interests in life and pursue them ethically full-speed ahead with the blessing of God.

Shun evil. Love what is good. Know that there are good times along with those other times.

I wouldn't say pharmaceutical antidepressants are madness. It all depends...And it's method of use is quite sane. I'm not going to get into this now, but it seems like you've got it a bit one sided and wrong buddy. and im not very big on pharm antidepressants at all either so i am not expressing a biased view.

For a lot of people in the Western Culture., it all comes down to which side they believe in:
-Companies trying to capitalize on American's "problems" with the most profitable industry: drugs.  Hey! It's FDA-approved and it's new, so it must be safe & effective!!!
-Other companies making their profit by selling popular/heard-of herbs as magical cures for ailments.  Hey! It's been used for 12 millenia in China! It must be safe & effective!!!

Obviously, most people are in the first mindset which I poorly and unhumorously characterized.  My view on this would probably rather bolster many previous posters' views on this forum;  avoid pharms unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.  I'm not high in intellectual stature or anything of that nature, but I have had applicable experience with pharms, especially SSRIs, and I'm slightly resourceful in supplements/herbs.

I completely missed my target of the purpose of this post so after referring to the first post I'll just make a statement: I currently take 10mg of Lexapro (I'm slowly "weening") and I have MISERABLE moods swings.  Generally, I'm either extremely pissed off (to the point of purposely ignoring self-control) or tired, depressed, anxious, and brain-dead. :frown:

Yeah, Society, I know what you mean. Having been through more than a handful of different anti-depressants myself, I agree that it's a debatable area. On the one hand you have these powerful chemicals that sometimes work, sometimes don't. And on the other hand, you have these plants that occassionally work and sometimes don't. I think people should really just experiment for themselves, and once they find something that works, stick with it.

If that makes any sense.
