Hello again Folks,
Im sure this question was broached before, but I could find no references for it with the Search tool, so risking being flamed, Ill ask it again.
Is there a real risk of losing potency when drying shrooms. I mean to say, does the quicker you dry, the less lost, if any, potency you exerience.
My friends tend to used dehumidifyier in a chamber set up, and let the chems suck the moisture out if the air in the small box. It takes about 3 days to get them to cracker dryness for lets say 100 grms wet -
Is this too long?
Are they losing valuble time?
Should they invest in a Snack Master?
Does the Snack master do smores?

i'm not really too sure about your situation but.. i was at the supermarkey last week and did happen to pick up some saltine crackers and some sharp cheese. now if that's not really your thing maybe some pepperoni and sharp cheese will do the trick or even olives maybe. i find that especially during the football season these condiments help out alot at the parties. hope this helps ..

Yeah fredd, shut the fuk up... Your stupid stories make no sense, and they are retarded. Somebody, please ban this guy.
Potency is lost if you use heat to dry the shrooms with (direct sunlight, your oven, a hot lamp, etc.) Your friend's method sounds good; I don't think much (if any) potency is being lost by using this method. Potency can also be lost if you just let the shrooms sit there for days, while they rot. Potency is also lost if you leave dry shrooms laying there for a few months.

ANYHOW... in response to the question, skipping over the pre-school bullshit...
There will be a very minimal loss in potency if they are dried properly (No heat). Only the psilocin is deteriorated some, through oxidization. The fact is it dosn't really matter that you do lose some of it, because the main ingredient psilocybin is converted to psilocin by your stomach acids anyhow.
So basically if you don't mind gagging down the extra mush, and you just picked them and want to eat them within 3 days, leave em fresh. Otherwise theres no harm in drying them.

Yeah, I never know the relative strength of my shrooms. If we use a gram of dried sporulating shrooms as 100% where do you place: dried just opening shrooms, freshies, fresh aborts, honey made from freshies. honey made from dries.
Honey is tough to calc. I did about a tsp of honey from freshies and got totally f...'d up. Who has experience dosing with honey?

yepp! Although i always dry 'em with a desiccant, i have sun dried them and still found them to be fully active - as that guy said, heat will oxidize psilocin, but that happens from the time they are picked, hence the bluing reaction, so dont worry too much...
