this tree just feel down in my yard and i was wondering if i could use it for a woodlovers type grow in the spring. all i know about this tree is that the branches are alternate and im pretty sure the leaves are simple. i don't have a clue what kind of tree it is but i don't feel like chipping it up for no reason. sorry for no digital pictures i don't have a camera. the bark is big and flaky and the color seemed to be a lil red/brown.

i won't swear to that the leaves are simple shaped because there is still snow on the ground and i just kicked up some of the snow and found a couple of leaves.

Isn't pine to acidic or something?

I think its the pine needles that are acidic, so the soil around them is acid. That's why you don't see many plants growing in the pine needles under the trees. Although I'm too sure about it, so if I'm wrong please correct me.
