First Timer

I realize this has been gone over several times but I'm totally new to all this. I was at my brothers place and found 3 bags of mushrooms. I don't know what kind they are or how much I actually have as I don't have a scale. If I eat enough will I get high like smoking pot and possibly see walls melt in front of me and stuff like that. How many caps and stems would you suggest? Will I wake up in the morning like I would after being stoned? Should I drink beer or not?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated because I'm really curious and will probably try them tonight.

Wow. Okay... first off you need to do some educational reading:
http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms.shtml (General Mushrooms Knowledge) http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/faqs/psychedelic_experience_faq.shtml (Perfect guide for the trip, this is your new bible)
Its a lot of reading, I know. If you read it all though you'll know just about everything you need to for your first trip. Now, about the mushrooms you have, since they're bagged they probably are just some cubes. A description of them would help greatly. Don't eat them until you know for sure what they are. Also, you're going to have to buy a scale or borrow one because its hard to judge how much your taking with out knowing the weight. I'd start off with about 2-2.5g for your first trip.
Mushrooms are NOTHING like pot, you wont feel like your high at all. Its a totally different experience, mushrooms are on a whole nother level. You seem so new to the psychedelic scene that theres just way to much you need to know, so just check out those 2 sites I posted for you. Oh, and you wont feel hungover or anything the next day, if anything you feel better then usual, and don't drink any alcohol!
EDIT: I just cant stress enough how important you knowing what your getting into is. Your post kinda scared me. You obviously don't know anything about mushrooms, but that's okay. Everyone was a first timer, you experience, and you learn. Please read those pages and take any advice the good people here give you. Mushrooms are a very powerful substance, and might scare the living shit out of you if you take them expecting some kind of super weed high. Educated yourself, and become as prepared as possible before you trip!

NO! Do not try them until you know for sure what they are.
There are some very, very poisonous mushrooms out there, and you should not risk your own life just to get high. Ask your brother what they are. Or try to identify them yourself using the guides on this site, but be damned sure you know what they are before eating.
You don't have a scale...well you'll need one. Mushrooms are all different weights, and the only way to weigh a dose is with a scale.
So have a little patience, find out what kind of mushrooms you have, and then get a scale. Tripping is very different from being stoned, and you should read a little about it before embarking on a voyage.
Be safe

Taking unknown mushrooms is dangerous. Find out what they are. Mushrooms are nothing like marijauna and most drugs to be honast. Once you find out what they are tell us. Never take more than 2.5 grams if your a 1st timer.

Is there somewhere in this forum I can post a pic and you could tell me what they are?

Posting it here would be fine. If you cant get the picture up just give us your best description of them. The color of the cap, stem, and the gills (area under the cap). Also if theres any blueish bruising on the stem, that would be a good sign!

I'm also reading everything above and won't be doing this tonight but will in the very near future as I had no idea about a preparation stage. I will probably on the beach also as I live two blocks from it.
Thanks for the heads up.

Sounds good, man. I was sure hoping you werent in the process of eating them while you were posting or if you ate them soon after. I read your post and was like "Aww shit..."
The beach would probably be an awesome place to do them. Sand is fun while tripping, and definitely if your there for the sunset too

Were glad to have you here. Can you ask your brother what they are? Also you should see some sign of blueing in the stems even after they are dry can you look in the backs and see if there is any bluish stems?

I really wouldn't feel right asking him about them after he gave his place in the city to me while he was away and I snaked them , but there are blue streaks in the stems but not in the caps.

But you'd feel right about stealing them? Hehe, don't you think he'd notice that they suddenly disappeared?

Maybe he left them as a gift! Well those are cubensis for sure. A great mushroom for a first time. A little reading, and a good mind set and your ready for a hopefully wonderful shroom experience.
Good luck, and have fun
