Just curious- do you people consider the chakra activation a mental activity or a bodily one.. Of course when you get to your third eye and crown chakra activation, it is so near your mind that I assume it mental.. But what about the other 5- is not your mind the controlling factor? Can you exercise these without use of the mind? I think not.
Thus- mental controls everything. And all the astral or physical strength in the world means nothing if you can not harness and direct it from your body into your mind and back freely.
Does a strong body inevitably mean a stronger mind, because of this correlation- or is it possible a weak body means a stronger mind because of more focused mind efforts..
I doubt this made much sense.. if you can comment feel free

once established it can run for a while and seem to be all physical

I like to describe it as psycho-somantic, which is term, i might not be spelling it right though.
There is a story i had read one time in a credible news source, i think the AP, about how once a flight from new york to paris (or some long flight) had told the passengers after leaving that those who had the chicken, might get food poisoning, since the chicken might have been infected with something. In a day or so, almost 100% of the passengers had called complaining they were throwing up, even those who didnt have the chicken! it was later found out that there was nothing wrong with the chicken.
You can easily make yourself violently ill, and can also heal yourself. The mind is a ridiculously powerful thing and can fool yourself into believing anything.

the chakras are a part of the subtle body. so its a mind and a body thing. certain chakras are more physically oriented like the base and sacral, and some are more metaphysical like the third eye and crown. some are a bit of both, like the heart chakra.

the root chakra is entirely physical according to my understandings.
the sacral is largely physical.
the solar plexus is where the blending starts and on upward is more and more mental/spirit.
but the thing is, your body affects your chakras. they are intimately interwoven as yin and yang are if you study the symbol a bit.
there is no real way to determine that one is the other because they both contain each other. [the same with body and mind, they work best as a whole, not as a schism.... although formless existence is possible upon exiting through the crown i think]
how your chakras function impacts the way your body runs and is structured..... so i suppose if you were very good with energy you could use only the chakras to change your body.
but then there's yoga which kind of uses the body to change the chakras.
