I'm trying to get as much info on the subject of shrooms as possible before I try it, and I have read every guide that I could find. None of them have specified if any of the poisinous varieties can grow in cow excrement. So thats what I was trying to find out: is it safe to assume that any mushroom growing in cow poop is safe to eat?

No. Never assume that. Thats how 2 people got very sick. They picked something like A. virosa and ate it.. a few days later they were in the hospital with liver failure. One of them died, the other had a liver transplant. Do some reading, there is PLENTY of information on this website(www.shroomery.org)... also try www.erowid.org Please do not be ignorant and eat any mushroom you find growing on cow shit, it gives experinced shroomers a bad name when some kid dies from eating some random mushroom just because it grew on cow shit. READ READ READ. Peace, -Gumby

bluemeanie, you're a great hunter and stuff. Although, please do not respond with that response again. Some kid that doesn't know anything may come here and read that! Consider that someone were to find a mushroom that has grown from cow dung. This may sound crazy, but another idiot could come and alter that mushroom with a blue color, in some fashion. Well, that might sound obsurd, but one out of a million chances could lead to death. Also, not all mushrooms that might be present in dung and bruises blue is Psilocybian! Consider the chance that a bolete or maybe a cubensis that has been sprayed with insecticide is good for you. Please do not take offense to my telling you. :) I'd rather keep these kids from getting sick. Also, I am not telling the poster of this thread that he/she is a kid! I'm just saying that someone may come here and read that and it could possibly 1:10000 may get hurt. Stay cool and please, for the love of god, find some magic! -Levi7.
