Mushroom Harvest

Hi, my name is Murphy. I'm new here, so bare with me if I tend to be in the dark on truisms that are generally widely accepted as common knowledge.
I did jars, PF tek about 1 month and a half ago. inoculated 5 jars, three colonized, at a slow pace, but at a sure pace. One of the three finally started pinning whilst still in the jar, I decided that it was time to put them in the soi-disant "shroomarium." I used a rubbermaid semitransparent container, with an opaque lid. Perlite with water, it's been working wonderfully. I also did the dunk tek, on two of the cakes that hadn't started pinning.
So here's my question, I've got a my first mushroom, which to me means, fully developed with a broken viel. Now, i've read through the FAQ's and whathaveyou, and that advise in harvesting, to just firmly pull the mushroom from the cake, while perhaps twisting if need be. My boggle is this, the foamy spumy white mycelium that usually characterizes nice healthy cake, and fortells of pinheads and primordia to come, is creeping halfway up the stipe of my first mushroom. Should I be removing the mushroom from this column of foamy mycelium, or should I be removing the column of mycelium along with the mushroom?
Any help or advise would be duly appreciated!! -Murphy

You should harvest that bad boy!! The mycelial growth on the mushroom is normal in high humidity, so no worries. Congratulations on your first grow!! What strain(s) do you have?

But Should i harvest the portion of the stipe that is overrun with mycelium, or leave, for possible future pinheads to bloom from?
Currently, I'm propagating B+ cubensis.
