i prepared a batch of Mass Mycelial Slurry (MMS) per the tek on this site using corn-cob bedding for animals, for use with a fully colonized PF jar of PF classic. Anyways... I've been keeping an eye on the slurry, and after a day, it lost it's boiled-corn smell that it first had and smells sort of... funky, like hard to describe -- not so bad as spoiled milk, but not pleasant or fresh. so I've been keeping the slurry around it's now on day 6 and a few "cotton-balls" of fuzzy white stuff have appeared on the surface of the mms, as well as I can see some mycelium growing growing under the surface.

should I be concerned about this, or no? and... if i'm using an unreliable tek, let me know! this was totally an experiment, I'm trying to figure out a decent way to turn a fully colonized PF jars into a greater amount of mycelium before casing.

I've never tried it, but I hear its a waste of time. Something about it getting contaminated easily once spawned with whatever. I also hear that people have tried to case it with no success.

cool. I hadn't heard any actual opinions on that tek, just thought I'd experiement with one jar.... werth a shot.

any ideas on spawing more mycelium from a single (or multiple) fully colonized PF cakes?
