gas rings for innoculatuion

Anyone else tried this?

When innoculating a (glass) jar, stand the jar in the middle of the largest gas ring on your hob (or inside a metal pan if it's not big enough). Turn gas on. The jar is surrounded by a column of super heated air which seems to eliminate airbourn contamination. You onl;y do it for a second or two so the heat isn't a problem.

I only do it cos my oven is convection only which really stirs the air up.

I'd say, your idea is pure genius. I envision a cast iron pan with perhaps an inverted pyrex bowl for setting your jars on.

there is a tek out there it uses the same idea but with your oven just turn it to its lowest setting and pull out a rack it has worked for me!
