a. I found them in SF bay area, California hills. They were growing in the grass near, but not on, cow dung. They were all spead out but in the same general area, no close groups only some pairs were together. b. The gills are a dark brown with a little bit of purple. the gills are attached. c. (size in pics compared to a regular crayon) d. The stem is slightly sticky and it is not hollow. e. The caps are a tan color f. Spore print color coming soon g. I don't think they bruised.... h. smells like?...mushrooms?
Any help would be awesome

Your description is fine.
Those look similar to Stropharia riparia.
You'll probably find Mykoweb a good resource for identifying mushrooms you find in your area.
Happy mushrooming!

I think Psilocybe cubensis used to be called Stropharia cubensis, so that is probably why there is similar.

does not look active- but it could semi resemble some active species... no bruising is apparent.

Well Psilocybe and Stropharia both belong to Strophariaceae. They often share the same habitat and spore print color. Most are closely related. Hypholoma is another example of a similar genus. Some species have been reclassified to other genera within the family. Cubensis was in the stropharia genus at one time according to my books.
