In the first design class I took in college, one of our assignments was to take a simple object xeroxed onto a piece of paper and turn it into a design...with equal amounts of light and dark, repetitive patterns, etc. I got reeeeally high before I started to draw...I didn't have much of an idea of what I was doing, but I just let the pen go and I came out with a sweet ass trippy design. The professor liked it...that was probably the most original drawing I've ever done, but certainly not the most organized.

I have..it is funny though..because sometimes at the time you think that the picture is really beautiful and then when you come down it looks like a 5 year old drew the picture!

wow, i always got stoned b4 my drawing classes at CU and on the days i didn't i found it hard to get into the groove. i got stoned during my sculpture class and i found it more liberating than sitting there working with the plaster while sober. CAUTION: working with plaster while stoned can make you stick to your work!!!!

i paint drunk most of the time.....
still unsure of what people think of my paintings.

the only thing that truly matters is that you are having fun while you do it.!!!

i drew on 3 1/2 hits of acid ... when i was just coming off the peak i was sitting in my loft where i was for most of the peak and i had a black sharpie in my hand so i decided to draw on the fence that surrounds the loft.  i drew a shroom and a bunch of wavy lines which i guess represent vibes or something i dont remember....in any case the shroom is still up there and looks amazing, but the "vibes" aren't anything special tho they probably were pretty tight on acid.

fuck i wish i had more acid, anybody here want to spare some ... lol

I drew a picture for a friend while coming down once. It did look like something I would have done in grade school, but it had a certain emotional cohesion to it. Even tho my skills were no better then anyother time, I felt like I was able to stuff more expression into the page.

I have an older friend that grew up in the 60's. One night he let me look through his old sketch book from his LSD fueled days of youth. I noticed the same of his pictures that he said he drew while tripping as opposed to the sober doodles. They seemed to embody more of an idea or theme decernable to the viewer.

Not to sound too new-ageish, but I think those drug influenced pictures has something special. Maybe the word for it is gestalt.

i just realized --- why did i have a sharpie in my hand when i was peaking on acid?  i guess i'll never know

another weird thing, to me the audio hallucinations i get on acid are stronger than any other sense.  my friend was wearing his green mad hatter hat he got from disneyland (i think it is like styrofoam or a cheap velvet or something) anyway when he barely moved his head (with the hat) back against the wall i remember hearing the loudest THUMP i have ever heard.  and his head didn't touch the wall, i saw that clearly.  i just thought his hat which could never ever make a thump sound, made one.  we both agreed at the peak of the trip that we will never be the same, but that's acid thoughts for ya.  i want to get a notebook and on my next trip just start to write (if i can ) and see what comes out of it.

I think that the cool thing behind drug-induce drawings is, that it would bring back a sense of what it was like to be on the drug, because i mean we remember what happened, but we dont remember alot of our weird thoughts/feelings/emotions and you can really see some of them in drawings/paintings etc not as much as actually being on the drug but you can really relate, if you know what i mean?

somehow, my thoughts are more insane than the mind they spawn from

Totally, Manna, I love to do art stuff when I am tripping so that I can keep track of what I was thinking about at the time. My favorite thing to make is collages from cutting up really old National Geographic magazines. It is insane the amount of stuff they put in that magazine, and not too many advertisements, either. I just do a high-speed flip through the magazine and things literally jump off the page at me and arrange themselves into bizarre configurations of meanings. Even though I don't usually put words in my collages, I cut out a lot of them anyway, disembodied text is cool--it says things like "what lies beyond the fretted archway?" and "the long, lonely leap"...A thing that is especially great about National Geographic is that they have lots of articles about evolution and ancient civilizations, and some of my flakier friends have gotten convinced they were re-experiencing past lives after looking at those articles. It is also great if you are having memories that you want to explain to people, like you can almost always find a picture in the magazines, if you have enough of them. I was trying to explain New England autumns to my friend who had had never seen one--I flipped through a few National Geographics, and of course I found a beautiful picture of all the trees in Vermont. -c.

recently my friends and I were foxy tripping and I drew this weird little rainbow flower and all my friends totally tripped out on it, vines and spikes and shit started growing in it and that is exactly what I was hoping it would do

though I hate to admit it, I became such a better artist after I started tripping.  my style changed from anime to hardcore trippy pics, which seems to go along better with people (I get a lot more comments on my pics now heh) ... I don't think acid MADE me an artist, or better, it just completely expanded my artistic horizons beyond little people with triangular eyes

looking at pictures done on shit IS a lot of fun, as I always remember what my trip was like when I look at it, like everything that was happening at the time (my memory tends to be very good with shit like that, i remember roughly 2 or 3 FULL dreams a night, from beginning to end, including everything i actually saw ... weird but i love it)  only thing that keeps me sane in this time of acid drought is remembering past trips, and thinking about how much fun it will be to do it again whenever it comes around again

I don't think it is wierd to think that tripping made you a better artist, but maybe it is more like it makes you less of an "artist" and more of a person who lives their life in a creative manner, which makes your art more about the process than the goal of making something that looks a certain way. -c.

It seems as though after I started tripping, I lost my technical ability (which I can still recall if I really care enough) and gained more of a free expression, which is what I feel makes an artist more unique. Anyone can learn how to draw if they try hard enough, but there is something far beyond that...

I can feel that. I think the main reason I like to make collages is that they are so easy and the results can be so suprising. I am more intimidated by the idea of drawing or painting. if I am tripping, I sometimes feel shy about being cheezy or over-structuring my emotions when I try to draw things, but the collage thing is different. It has made me see the world like a sometimes awkward composite of disparate images and ideas, including myself and my own baffling inconsistencies. -c.

I have a stack of papers with various writings and drawings I did while on a rather intense dose of LSA (I love the experience but dont know if its worth the overwhelmingness of the nausea for two hours >.<)... I created individual pages and images for people that I knew with alot of numerological and metaphysical symbolism. At first glance at them when sober, I find them silly, but I think its mostly that I need to be in an altered state to decipher what I attempted to encode in the first place. The thing I like most about tripping and creating art is that one is often enraptured with the beauty of simplicity and design. you percieve the aspects of art you often take for granted.

I don't have a scanner! Maybe I can ask my friend to do it for me at work next week. I'm not very technically advanced.
