Changed XP registration?
    #3709142 - 01/31/05 06:05 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

My friend downloaded a program which happened to change the name and serial number of the person the system was registered to.. when you go into my computer.. system.. it says registered to: Not You, No Longer

I've since purged the system of any and all spyware, worms, etc.. but it's still there

Anyone know how to fix this?

Yeah man, sorry to tell you, but you got pwned by M$.

Reformat will fix that, and remember, USE A CORPORATE EDITION WIN XP.  Doesn't need a key to put in and it'll always work

You could try running regedit.exe, then navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Check the values of RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization.

Peace,

If you have the original serial number & want to change it back you may be able to change it back by using a program called keyfinder. Just do a search for keyfinder on google.
