I'm a newbie and...

...does anybody know if any shrooms grow wild in UT? If so, where to find them?

I've almost debated growing them myself, but after reading all that goes into it I thought maybe hunting for them might be better.

Any help is much appreciated.

Come on people. I've got a million questions.

I normally buy them, but NOBODY has any. It's been WAY TOO LONG since the last time I had any.

I would like to become self-sufficient. Whether that means hunting down a bunch and drying/saving them or if it means growing, but I'm so tired of nobody having any and it always costs a fortune.

Does an 8th represent an 8th of a pound or some other unit of measurement? What does an 8th represent in grams?

I've got tons of mushrooms growing in this bark/mulch behind my house, but there is no way I could ID them. Should I take a photo and post it here? Is a positive ID from a moderator on this board enough to chance eating them?

I don't know anything about Utah, so I can't even guess, but it seems like theres a good possiblity that atleast a few species grow near you. Maybe liberty caps?? I dunno.


And 8th equals = 1/8 of an ounce, about 3.5 grams to be exact.

Thanks for the info.

I usually eat an 8th and have a good time. I was reading in the dosage category how many I should eat to get a level 4 trip. From the descriptions it sounds like I usually get a level 3.

I think I'm going to go hunting for some shrooms this weekend if it rains. From what I've managed to read on here so far I should head for cow pastures near creeks. Should I head for higher elevations where it is most likely cooler? It's pretty hot in UT.

if you ate an 8th of libs you would probably reach level 4. ive eaten a half and reached level 5 however. :) BTW, i DONT advise it. that day was crazy! i ended up on the front page of the chronicle herald, police scanners. and on the radio the announcer said "did anyone catch a glimpse of that guy running through town today? he was flying! he should try out for the olympics, what WAS he ON?"

Yeah one time I tripped by myself and without other people around to give the occasional reality check you can get in trouble fast. I ended up at a rest stop about 20 miles from my house. I had no intentions of driving before I ate them, but for some reason it seemed like a good idea at the time. I was so glad I didn't hurt anyone or end-up in jail. I don't take them alone anymore. By all means it was fun at the time, but I got to thinking about the consequences when I came down and it scared me pretty bad.
