Agar or Needle

I was just wondering if colonized agar is just as good as a needle inoculation for whole grain brown rice? I know once the rice is sterilized that they stick together and you cant shake em up like rye grain. I am familar with agar and would like to continue using it, but I have never tried rice cakes before.

add some vermiculite to the rice and that should improve its shakability. I would use agar.
