A bad mushroom trip...

A Bad Trip On Mushrooms from: drugfreeamerica.org Posted by: Anonymous Date: September 20, 2000 11:26 am Hi, I have a story of unwelcome consequences of psilocybin mushroom use. One night last year some friends and I ate some mushrooms. It turns out that we each ate too many overly powerful mushrooms, and we found ourselves taking a walk. We wandered around and soon were laughing and screaming. I had a vague feeling that we were being too loud and obnoxious, but I couldn't help myself. Soon we were approached by a police officer, alerted to us by complaints by local residents. We were tripping madly, but barely managed to convince him we were just drunk. He let us go, and we went back to the house. After that, it was (for one friend and I) a very, very bad trip. We were frightened and paranoid and just wanted it to stop, but it didn't for three more hours. My friend wasn't even aware of anything or anyone in the room. It was incredibly scary, and we've shown better judgment since.

In reply to:
What are its short-term effects? When ingested, mushrooms produce a syndrome similar to alcohol intoxication sometimes accompanied by hallucinations. Once ingested, mushrooms generally cause feelings of nausea and other physical symptoms before the desired mental effects appear. The high from using mushrooms is mild and consists of distorted perceptions. Effects may include different perceptions of stimuli like touch, sight, sound and taste. Onset of symptoms is usually rapid and the effects generally subside within 2 hours. The effects of mushrooms are unpredictable each time they are used due to varying potency, the amount ingested, and the user's expectations, mood, surroundings, and frame of mind. Effects can include sweating, nervous feeling, paranoia.
obviously these people havent't taken enough mushrooms

Posted by: Anonymous Date: September 20, 2000 11:22 am I'm 15 years old and a freshman. When I was 13 I guess it was, I tried pot for the first time and quit a few months later. That was the scariest few months I have ever had. I want to help kids stop doing drugs. I have seen what it can do and I am totally against it. Sure the commercials are nice, but most kids don't even watch TV. Most listen to the radio. You need to hit teens where they are at the most -- away from school.

Frightening Experience With Ecstasy Posted by: Anonymous Date: September 20, 2000 11:32 am It wasn't myself that took a drug, it was one of my close friends. He took an Ecstasy tablet and hallucinated very badly. He thought that he had bugs in his skin and kept trying to scratch them off. He even tried to cut some of them out of one of his arms and ended up with scars all over him. It was terrifying to stand and watch my friend in that state, it made me decide that I would never take an 'E'. If you want to keep safe, clean and sane, then don't touch drugs at all. DAMN they got to be making this up :) ps i'm so happy to not be an american .......

Frightening Experience With Ecstasy

It wasn't her that took the drug, it was me. I took an Ecstacy tablet and hallucinated very goodly. I thought my girlfriend was the most beautiful creature in the universe. I thought she had sugar all over her skin and tried to lick it all off. I even tried to have sex with her, but ended up just cuddling. It was terrible for her to see me like that, it made her deicde not to let me do E alone ever again. If you want to keep safe, clean and sane, don't touch drugs at all. But if you want to have a good time...

Nice one greenplato... I want to send a story about my mushroom trip to drug free america... It would go something like this: "My Mushroom Trip" When I was 16, a few of my friends and I went to a park and my friend told us he had some magic mushrooms. I ate some of them and waited for the effects to happen. I did not get stomach pains and I did not puke, like your site said I would. Then I started feeling the effects. No, it wasn't paranoia or anxiety like you claimed it would be, it was pleasant and fun. So we walked around for a while and I had a great time. So did all my friends. After my trip, I decided to not believe a word you or any other "drug haters" had to say about mushrooms. Yes, I know that they can be dangerous if I try driving or something, but all in all, they are fun and I loved my experience with them. To this day, I still enjoy doing mushrooms, and I will continue to enjoy them. The moral of my story is that almost everything that you anti-drug sites say, is either untrue or misleading. Please stop lying to the gullible kids and their parents about the effects of drugs. Tell us the truth.

hey i already submitted my "story", though all i said was how drugs, used in moderation, are safe, for the most part. safer than alcohol, for sure. and how DARE and other such org's are only making our world worse by lying and saying absolute bullshit about how pot will make you want to kill yourself. LOL i explained how my grades have actually increased after i started using. and that's not a lie, i went from a 2.4 to a 3.8 ... not too shabby. hopefully they would print it, but knowing them they won't i want to become a DARE officer who just tells kids the truth about drugs, and how pot is not dangerous, and how acid doesn't bubble your brain, and how mushrooms aren't the devil's phallus, etc etc. DARE will love me for sure anybody else want in on this?

Ugh, the world's gonna have to change. I can't see it going on like this forever. The truth will have to leak out and become accepted eventually. My sister has a book on female adolescence that has a section of drugs. For E it explains only things like "it makes you twitch and your body temperature and heart rate go dangerously high." It not once mentions the euphoria. For LSD it explains it as a drug that gives scary hallucinations that trigger mental disorders and can come back years later. Giving sketchy, incomplete information to to try to lead kids out of harm's way is a technique that I feel just can't last. It's too backward.

Hey eveyone, check this out for our own 'home-grown' (no pun intended!) Australian Government propaganda, with their new and improved "TOUGH ON DRUGS" booklet, an expensive-looking (& taxpayer-funded) 23 page rant which was sent to EVERY household in the whole country, imported with almost no variations from that country of enlightened drug policy, 'the Land of the Free' : HALLUCINOGENS Potential consequences & symptoms: Impaired judgement, increased pulse rate, insomnia, paranoia, unpleasant hallucinations, self-inflicted injury, violent behaviour, depression, anxiety, unpredictable and terrifying flashbacks.... Of couse, there can be no mention of the positive and life-affirming/enriching qualities.........;)

You know, if all the things that the gov't and all the anti-drug groups said about various drugs were true, then why the hell would drugs be so popular? For instance, they say that mushrooms cause: "impaired judgement, increased pulse rate, insomnia, paranoia, unpleasant hallucinations, self-inflicted injury, violent behaviour, depression, anxiety, unpredictable and terrifying flashbacks, etc" but if mushrooms really DID cause these symptoms, I sure as hell wouldn't be eating them! Isn't it obvious to everybody who reads this that they are leaving some of the good symptoms out? They forgot to mention that mushrooms may cause: feelings of happiness, euphoria, pleasant hallucinations, the funniest shit you've ever seen and heard, etc. Stop lying to us!

you guys are right about all those drug organizations misleading the youths of the world. especially when it comes to shrooms. anyone who has tripped and experienced exactly what it means to truly respect magic mushrooms could never have anything bad to say about it at all.

you're all completely RIGHT! And so, brother and sister psychonauts, I sound the call to arms that will bring true enlightenment to the masses! I call upon each and every one of you! When you see misinformation stop it right there! let it not spread to others! re-inform those who are spreading this vile propoganda! ;-)
