getting Opium out of pods

I just wanted to know what you guys think is the best way to get Opium out of the pods. Do you take the whole pod and use it to make tea or do you make cuts in the pods and collect the sap or do you samething completely different.

Thats illegal man!!!!

Anywho, you can just make vertical slits in the pod with a razor blade and let the sap ooze out. When it is semi dry you can collect it with a butter knife or your thumb nail or some other blunt instrument. Just be sure not to cut into the actual seed chamber. ONLY DO THIS IN A COUNTRY WHERE IT IS LEGAL.

You remember ghostbusters? 'Don't cross the streams'... Well it's pretty similar to that :)

If you cut into the pod, the resin will not seep out of the slit, but will harden and seal up the slit.

If my friend lived in canada or north eastren usa where they get alot of snow wanted to plant some seeds should he or she plant them in the fall like next month or so or in the spring?

I would say he/she should plant half in the fall and half in the spring. That way if the fall ones die during the winter (they should be alright) you still have seeds to replace them.

I always fictionally lanced horizontal for some reason . . . . wonder if there was a reference I read somewhere that made me do it that way . . .

I always assumed lancing horizontal was better. The veins that carry the latex run vertically up the pod, so lancing horizontal will cut through more of these and mean more latex will be excreeted.
