PF Pie.

KISS.. Keep It Simple Cheff. Hey who ever said cheffs could spell...

PF Pie is a little creation I made up a long time ago, I posted it but now cant find it so here it is again..

Take your run of the mill PF Tek Recipe and instead of jaring it up and PCing it, put it into either pie tins or bread tins, cover with a double layer of aluminum foil and seal the edges tight by crimping with plyers. PC this mix till bug free.

After it has cooled clean the surface with lysol and inject spores straight through the foil in a few spots then cover with another layer of clean foil and wait two weeks or so.

By now you should have a nice flat bed of mycelium and you can put this straight into the fruiting chamber as is or you can scratch the surface and case with coco fiber, reseal and wait till ready. Ive found that caseing the PF Pies realy makes a diference in the stem thickness and volume of flushes.

Also I realy like bread tins best cuz they are rectangular and you can fir lots of them into your double tub terrarium setup.

Mushroom growing was made simple with the PF Tek. Its now been made better.

Wouldn't it be hard to tell when the myc is actually done colonizing tho?

It might be hard to tell when done colinizing if done with metal tin, good point. Glass bread pans are available...but you may need to poke around to find em. I know that pyrex makes something similar.

This doesn't make alot of sense to me.  How many inoculation points?  You'd need like 10 for effective and germination, and colonization. Like  others have mentioned, how would you keep progress of substrate colonization? I guess it's possible, but I'll stick to my quart jars and WBS

Nope... Only three.. Your working with something shallow and myc spreads quickly.

This is not a perfect science and you dont need to have 100% colonization for good results, especialy if you case it it..

if theirs uncolonized parts on the bottom or corners of your pie then by the time your caseing is colonized your entire pie will be too...

In a round pie tin, one injection spot in the middle is good enough for good results.
